Sand Casting technique

This picture shows the vine casting being removed. This is the most rewarding part of the process where the creation appears. After the casting is removed it will be polished, grouted and polished again. The last step is to spray 2 coats of sealer.

 The Fractured Tree Project.

This is a picture of the tree after the concrete has been fractured. The next step is going to be very complex. It is my intention to have a tree actually protruding out of the cracked area. This will be done using a sand casting technique to produce a concrete tree with steel branches. This part of the process will "lock" the pieces together and also create a frame around the piece showing here. This is the fourth casting of the tree. I have been working with different shades in the concrete. I will be posting future updates on my blog.
